High heels and Handguns …
I’m kind of picky about my reading and have to really enjoy a book to bother with a review. So here it is…High Heels and Handguns is a well written book with a great backstory, a great plot and well developed characters. I can’t wait for the next book! It’s very rare to see this level of writing and editing in a new author. My only regret is that she doesn’t have a huge library for me to binge read. It’s currently about 4am because of course I had to read it in one go! I’m off to sleep and will likely reread as well as search out info on Lisa Heartman. Hopefully I’ll find more to read or at least when she’s planning a new release,

A Pretty Good Read
The book had all the ingredients for a good story. The storyline was easy to follow, and the characters likable. I also like the title. It’s an attention graber and good marketing. Unfortunately, it’s not memorable, but it is entertaining. Enjoy and Happy Reading

Fun, Engaging, and Sexy
Kate Howard is a military veteran with a past working as a security specialist. Her job reunites her with her former commanding officer, and the two set about solving a case involving the attempted murder of elected officials. As the protagonist, Kate is multidimensional: super-tough, yet also feminine, proving that women don’t have to one or the other. Her relationship with Paxton Banks, her former commander, is in turns amusing, hot, and touching, as it evolves throughout the course of the novel. The plot is gripping, providing a serious counterpoint to the entertaining Kate and Paxton. I’m hooked! More Kate Howard novels, please!

Good balance between the seriousness of the job and past feelings coming to the forefront
Kate Howard is independent, unrelenting, and stubborn to a fault. Throw in a lot of sass and you will be left rooting for her while shaking your head at her antics. Insert Paxton Banks into the scenario and you get an intricate relationship between the two, teetering between getting over their history and past mistakes while figuring out how to work together and explore their deep-rooted feelings.Lisa Heartman does a good job of balancing the serious nature of the threats to Kate’s client and FBI investigation with a slight edge of comedy, a few entertaining supporting characters, the thrill of the chase, and a developing romance. The story flows and keeps you captivated. By the end, you are left wanting to know what’s next for Kate and Paxton and what lines will be crossed in the future.

An Enjoyable Read
An entertaining book with several interesting characters. The main characters are described very well to give you an excellent image of them as you read the adventures they on with one another. Tid-bits of background of the two main characters was helpful but it seems as if that could have been a story for the first book to lead into this book. But, who am I, I am sure the author has a plan to draw out other books involving these two. Looking forward to Book Two.

Fast paced and enjoyable read
The characters in this book are quirky but believable. If reading about consensual sec between a man and a women isn’t for skip that part. It was tastefully done though. Strong women characters are always a plus and this book kept my interest til the end. Can’t wait to see what new trouble Kate gets into.
