Trouble Finds Her
Another fun, fast-paced mystery. Holliday weaves suspense with humor and love of family, friends and significant others.Even with a broken leg, Maddie still handles herself as a tall girl in stilettos.

Good but not AS good
I thought this 4th book in the series lacked the excitement of the three previous ones. It was good but why would Maddie kiss Felix? It just wasn’t believable at all. Yes, the sexual tension between them was ok but not actually kissing. That just didn’t work for me,

Love this series!
Realistic, light suspense, with humor, romance, and relationship issues thrown in. Just enough “steaminess” to get your heart pitter-pattering, without graphic wording. Downloaded the first book as a freebie and got hooked! On the fifth book in the series now and the quality hasn’t wavered. These are great books at reasonable prices, which seems to be unusual for quality electronic books. (Never have understood why electronic versions should be as expensive as hard copies. Hello!! Aren’t we saving trees, ink, shipping, etc.? Apologies for the rant…)Love these books and love the prices…they are also lendable, which is a plus. Keep ’em coming Gemma!

Good old fashioned High Heeled fun!!
Maddie Springer is at it again, this time in Paris – the most romantic city in the world and the fashion capital! Add a broken leg, dead models stabbed in the jugular with one of HER designed high heels, her quirky jealous bestie Dana, a weird romatic vibe from Tabloid Boy Felix and her hottie boyfriend LAPD Detective Jack Ramirez and Maddie’s trip to the fashion capital of the world isn’t all it cracked up to be – and all she wants is to get a glimpse of the Eiffle Tower! When a fiesty model turns up dead on the runway with one of Maddie’s own design heels protruding from her neck all eyes are on her. With the paparazzi dubbing her ‘The Couture Killer’ Maddie must get to the truth before the show so her shoes can be seen by all of the worlds most important fashionistas. Throw in a complicated relationship with a Tabloid reported who won’t take no for an answer, the police not believing her and everyone watching her for all the wrong reasons and Maddie is at her witts end. Can she catch the real murderer in time or will she be forever known as ‘The Corture Killer’??Just another fabulous additon to Gemma Halliday’s Maddie Springer High Heels Mysteries. And I for one am a dedicated and loyal Maddie fan!!!glitter-bug-blog.blogspot.com.au

It’s Okay
Just a note — there is a spoiler in this review.Finished this last evening (12/29). If you’ve followed my reviews of this series, you’ll notice I’ve downgraded my rating on this one. It’s not because it isn’t well plotted; it’s not because it isn’t filled with lots of action, crazy people doing crazy things, mayhem and murder — it has all those things. It’s just getting too predictable: Maddie gets into trouble — often of her own making; Maddie involves her best friend, Dana, her Mom and Mrs. Rosenblatt, even the obviously-smitten-with-her tabloid writer, Felix — everyone but the one person who could probably be helpful, her supposed boyfriend, Jack. But Jack jumps to the rescue anyway — all the time complaining and expecting Maddie to change her stripes and actually do something reasonable, as one would expect an adult to do.The main character, fashionista Maddie, is likeable, funny — and a complete flake. I mean, how many people go to meet an unknown person at the Eiffel Tower for a supposedly romantic rendevous, doesn’t know which of two men it could be (and it could be someone else couldn’t it), doesn’t know which one she hopes it is, and then accepts that person’s proposal (even though he just described her actions to the French Police as ‘hairbrained’)? Come on. It’s bad enough this person goes to face down people who are on her own list of murder suspects without backup; it’s bad enough she manages to involve her friends and family in life-threatening situations; it’s bad enough that she completely ignores Jack’s pleading to let professionals handle the investigation and plunges ahead instead of putting her efforts into salvaging her professional reputation; it’s bad enough she’s basically living with one guy while she has strong though un-admitted feelings for another (and what is the purpose of that second guy if she’s getting married to the other one by the sixth book?). I’d have thought she might want to spend a bit more time creating smashing new shoes (the old ones being confiscated by the French Police) in order to salvage her first Paris Fashion Week opportunity. I mean she is a shoe designer — not a professional p.i.; even Stephanie Plum at least has a job in a similar field when she goes investigating while completely unprepared and most of her situations revolve around trying to do her job! I’d have thought she might sort out her feelings for the two men in her life before agreeing to marry one of them. At the very least, I might expect that as the series progresses that her ability to handle some of these situations would improve.I’ll admit that I immediately starting thumbing through the books coming up in order to see if there was any indication that a) she doesn’t go through with marrying one man when she has feelings for another, b) grows up in any way or c) at least stops putting everyone else in her life at risk when she runs off on her ‘hairbrained’ quests. Waste of time evidently.I suppose that’s supposed to be part of her charm, and maybe it is. Personally she’s beginning to bug me. Unfortunately, I’ve already purchased the remaining books in the series. Thank goodness they are Kindle editions and I can just remove them from the carousel if I decide I can’t take anymore. So why do I continue to like Stephanie Plum (who also seems to have some libido issues) while I’m growing less and less fond of Maddie? I’m not sure. I’ve been asking myself that all day. Maybe it has to do with the fact that Stephanie at least admits she’s conflicted in her feelings for the two men in her life — and both of them are likable. Maddie seems to think it’s not important to recognize those conflicted feelings, and one of her choices has for the last couple of books, seemed less and less appealing while the other seems more and more appealing. Can you guess which one she chooses? You might be surprised. One reviewer of this book said she threw her book across the room because of the ending. I had similar feelings about it. Yeah, here’s a good ending. Choose a life mate when just seconds before he walked in you still didn’t know who you wanted to show up. Desperate much?

This is the third novel I’ve read by Gemma. She never stops amazing me. It’s suspense all the way. What with the added touch of comedy with the characters and the story, it is just absolutely amazing. I think Maddie, her main character is a gem. This would so make a fab girly movie, Gemma if you ever read this review, hint, hint. I mean all the books about Maddie would make a great TV series.

Weiter so!
