With solar charging and good control over what can cause an alert–a very good surveillance camera
We needed a camera facing the gate at the entrance to our property and the sidewalk people would follow to get to our front or back door. The only vantage point that would satisfy the requirement was a spot on the wall above the garage door. I knew the WiFi coverage might be problematic there, but AC power would be a bigger issue–there isn’t any. We could have mounted a photocell array on the wall next to the camera, but we didn’t want to add more hardware to an area where there would already be enough clutter.The Anran C3 wireless security camera we were invited to try seemed to offer a solution. A solar array is built into the top of the camera, and although it’s smaller than other arrays we’d seen, the Amazon ad indicates two hours of sunlight a day will maintain the charge in the battery. The manual explains that continually charging the battery to more than about 50% will shorten its life. The setup page in Anran ap allowed us to monitor the battery, and we found that even in cool, overcast, spring weather, the battery charge stayed at around 50%. And yes, the floodlight was used most nights. Critters visit the surveilled area, and my wife and I find reasons to walk through the area most nights too. So the camera remained functional in normal use, day and night.No problems installing the ap on my phone. The software includes voice prompts that helped over the points where I might have had trouble. I was stumped one time, after I’d sidetracked the installation by selecting the wrong option. I didn’t want to do it, but the manual suggested starting that part of the installation again. This time it went smoothly. The ap also includes a feature for sharing the feed from the camera with another user.The camera sees our garage apron, the driveway, and the gate. This means it also sees traffic on the road in front of the house, so setting up motion detection was important. Adjusting motion and infrared sensitivity as well as the humanoid alarm area eliminated the initial false alarms. The motion sensitivity adjustment stopped alerts caused by vehicles driving by. You can also set up an 8-corner rectangle around the area in which you would want to detect human activity. Each camera has its own ap for doing this.An Artificial Intelligence purchase option which allows the system to “analyze the alarm image for content” and distinguish between ID categories such as humans, pets (only cats and dogs), vehicles, and packages. We haven’t found a need for this function yet, but Anran says they will continue to develop it. We could change our minds about this in the future.Alert notifications can be disabled when they’re not needed. When the function is turned on, activity in front of the camera produces a pleasant ding dong chime.WiFi range was very important because the camera placement over the garage door is the only location that provides a good view of the area we want to observe. The wireless router is at the other end of the house, and the attic is lined with aluminum foil-laminated insulation. Tests with another camera indicated this might work, and when the new Anran camera arrived, we found that it worked very well.Anran recommends placing the camera in areas where the indicated WiFi signal strength is over “85%.” Signal strength in our setup is 62%, but so far, the connection has been reliable. If we have problems because of this, I’ll install a 2.4 GHz range extender. Of course, I placed the camera near the WiFi router when I did the initial software setup.There is a lot more to say about this camera—about color night vision, 2-way talk, IP67 waterproofing, compatibility with Alexa. But I’ve hit the features most important to me. I’m sure you will appreciate a well thought-out, well-made product.I was encouraged to write this review by Anran, but you should know I am not employed by Anran or by Amazon. These recollections are my own, after installing and using the camera. In a word, I am very pleased with my purchase. Features in this camera, in particular the integrated solar charging array, have made what could have been a difficult project an easy and successful one.

Like the built in solar. This cam captures pretty much everything that moves!! Love this model over the larger anran camera. Lightweight and easy to use! Night vision is awesome as well.

 I’m really loving this solar camera. As a young lady I’m always looking for easy installation gadgets (not much physical effort) and this time I was looking for a solar camera for my backyard. Just one piece, no need of wires, or difficult installation devices , and this camera has it all!!. This camera embeds the solar panel, so the installation was just one step… just what I needed since I had it mounted in my back fence, so nothing blocks sunlight from the solar panel.Video is super clear, HD. It has excellent WIFI reception. It’s placed around 50 feet away from router, and works perfect!! I can access it from my mobile and performance is amazing!. Battery is always full in sunny days, and still working in overcast days. But you still can adjust motion detection sensitivity if you see battery is getting a little low.Human detection is highly accurate, alerting me in real time when a human being is there and can establish two way communication.Camera setup is so easy through Anran app. It took less than 5 minutes to complete all process. You can activate siren, intercom, and light. Light is so helpful when extra lighting is required in your backyard or any other place.This is my 4th Anran camera. I bought 2 S01 and 1 Q3 for my farm in South America and this C3 for Texas. All of them work perfect, batteries panels are working fine even in rainy or cloudy days and I can check on my loved ones anywhere they are!! Highly recommended..

This camera was so easy to set up and with an integrated solar panel is brilliant for the price. The features are really good with an inbuilt light and siren. The picture quality is really good and you can easily go back and look at the history. For the price it is brilliant. You just need to bake sure wherever it’s mounted it gets some sun.
