Gorgeous vintage romper, real Rosie the riveter vibes!
I love Belle Poque and they rarely disappoint, but I was still a little unsure about ordering this because I’m not a romper person at all. I never wear rompers because I hate that you have to take them all the way off to pee, plus I usually look like a toddler in them!
I took a chance on this one, though, because I love the cut of it. I am very glad to say I was wrong to think this might look dowdy on me. It’s adorable, yet still grown-up and looks great on me, I’m very happy to say!
This is such a cute, comfy and practical cotton button-down romper from Belle Poque. It exudes that timeless vintage elegance & effortless feminine beauty, while also being downright adorable!
It really is giving Rosie the Riveter vibes! You could even throw on a red bandanna and you’ve got the perfect costume… but it isn’t at all costume quality. It’s very well-made and is not over-the top retro, either. This can be accessorized to look either modern or vintage. It has a classic silhouette but is still modern enough and subtly vintage enough to wear to the office or to a picnic, to the beach, prettymuch anywhere! It is made out of 95% cotton and 5% elastane and is very lightweight and breathable. Very comfortable to wear.
I got it in navy blue and it is perfect. I’m 5’4″, 170lbs, bust is 38D, waist is 34.5″, shoulder is 16.9″ and hip is 44.5″. I got this romper in the Large size and it fit me perfectly. Looks like it was tailored for me! No gaping at the bust buttons, either.
I like the length of the shorts, flirty cut but nice & long enough to emulate that authentic 1940s length without looking matronly or like I’m in my grandma’s shorts (sorry, grandma!). They are long enough that I feel comfortable bending over. They have small cuffs which add to their retro charm.
The shorts have a soft inner slip lining made of 98% polyester and 2% viscose. The slip short lining is in the front and back from the shirred waist down.
The waist is shirred all the way around. The shirred area is about 2″ tall. This gives a nice nipped in effect to the waist that helps you look snatched! The pockets are huge, more like pockets on cargo pants! You can fit a lot in them!
The buttons appear to be made of some kind of plastic and are made to look like a wood colored print. They all work all the way down. The buttons are NOT decorative.
The double fabric collar stands up and holds its shape beautifully. The cut of the collar, and indeed the cut of the entire romper is so feminine and gorgeous. It emphasizes all the right areas. It is very flattering and would look great on many different types of figures.
So, if you couldn’t already tell, I absolutely love this piece and it is one of my new favorites in my closet! It will get a ton of wear this summer. I can’t wait to style it some more. So, I’m sure you already guessed, I definitely recommend it!

Not best for long torsos
I love pretty much everything about this romper. It’s stylish and quite comfortable. I have a long torso though and even though I ensured I was on the generous side of sizing, it can be a bit tight in length. For most people though I’m sure you’ll love it! Love the synced waist.

Not pregnancy bladder friendly
Most would think it was my fault for buying something that I can’t take off efficiently to use the bathroom every 20-30 minutes, and they are right, but to tell you the truth it didn’t quite dawn on me until I actually wroe this for out. Super cute but if you need to pee often this likely isn’t the outfit for you..
