Gaiam’s Foldable Yoga Mat is a 2mm thick, scored yoga…
Customers say
Customers like the ease of folding and portability of the exercise mat. For example, they mention it folds up nice and small, and fits in a carry on suitcase well. That said, opinions are mixed on comfort, thickness, and grip.

Perfect for travel
While it’s thinner than my regular mat, it folds and packs easily and is grippy enough for my practice. I used it every day during an extended vacation and at home I’m using it doubled to add extra padding under the center of my usual Gaiam mat. Well worth the money!

Excellent
Great , sturdy, not slippery and easy to travel. It folds up into a square. Itâs slightly heavier than some of the cheaper ones. I got it TJ Maxx but itâs good.

I really like it
First, I want to say I’ve practiced yoga daily for about 20 years. 10 years ago I bought a manduka mat that I still use BUT, it’s heavy and takes up a bunch of space in my luggage.About 4 years ago I bought a cheap lightweight mat just for travel. It worked well but still took up a bunch of space.I wanted something that would fit in my carry-on luggage. This is it. It’s perfect for hotel yoga. Now I will say it is extremely thin. As in its fine for basic yoga but not really stretching. I have tile floors at home and it provides no cushion for my head or knees. It is very sticky, in a great way. I like the stickiness better than my manduka. I use the foldable under my manduka so it doesn’t slide at home and carry-on pack it when we travel. It’s great on a rug or if your place has hard floor, I use a towel as knee cushion.Totally worth the money!!

Great for lightweight travel
I was surprised at the good large size of the mat, how it packs down small, and while not very thick, provides adequate padding even on hotel hard floors. Great for when space constrained, fits in a carry on suitcase well.

great for travel anywhere
about the 5 stars for comfort and thickness: considering youâre buying a mat for travel that is 2mm thick, the comfort is what youâd expect. comfort in this category is about stickiness and LACK of thickness for travel and being the size and thickness of a laptop inside a protective case.anyway, this is not a mat for hot yoga of any kind as it would need a towel to not be slippery with a lot of sweat. that said, vinyasa flow outside a heated room is totally doable. and just add a towel if you like hot yoga on the go.i bought this for personal practice at work and traveling and doing yoga. i washed it with a mix of 50/50 white vinegar and water with a soft bristle brush and it has been great since. it is plenty sticky for poses like that. again, no major sweat or yoga outside in the rain. using for a relatively intense workout at a pace that keeps you from becoming dripping with sweat it works awesome!i use between clients or at lunch at work. i will wear a tank top and looser yoga pants and cover it all w a suit jacket and no one can tell i am ready for yoga underneath. then, at lunch or between clients, i can drop the mat in my office and get a solid workout just removing my jacket or even the shirt i might wear, too. i cool down then add my office clothing back on the top half of my body.for me, having a mat that allows that without a big tube sticking out of my bag all bulky is fantastic. the âsacrificesâ i deal with to have this fit into a work bag or suitcase are WELL worth it to me.i can also use it in hot yoga/vinyasa flow just by bringing a towel.i am totally happy with my purchase and think this is a totally usable travel mat that is easily carried. it also folds in on itself so the bottom touching the floor esp in an office or hotel room is not being introduced to the top when you canât clean it before putting it away. nice! the bottom folds to itself! again, less concern with dirt or whatever else also being exposed in your bag.for the low price point and convenience i would easily purchase again. if you are used to a high end mat and get super drippy sweaty then maybe this isnât for you unless you bring a towel. however, being for travel and convenience it is fantastic in my opinion. gets lots of use!

Great Travel Mat & non slip!- but not the smallest
I have a lot of feelings about this mat. The price point is great and overall I do like this mat but it’s not perfect and there are definitely folks out there who would be disappointed with it.In short: if you want a thicker travel mat and don’t mind about the extra space it takes up then this is the mat for you. If you find the traditional/thinner mats difficult to use in studios and don’t like layering – then this is also the mat for you. It can be used alone on hardwood unless you have particularly fragile knees. However – if you really just want an ultra compact and lightweight mat, this is not the mat for you.Further details below for those interested:I am a fan of this map. I’m a sweaty yogi and I tend to slip. I am also not one of those magical people who can kneel on hardwood floors and not feel pain. For all of these reasons, I say this a fantastic travel mat. I wouldn’t want this to be my sole mat, but it’s thick enough that it’s almost overkill on a carpeted hotel room floor but I’m happy I have it if I get to a studio while on the road. The texture is pebbled and I don’t slip much on it which is impressive. If I don’t slip – then Id be willing to bet you won’t either!I purchased this when new to yoga knowing that if I wasn’t comfortable I wasn’t going to continue my practice on the road. However – it’s been about 6 months and I’m going to buy a new travel mat for those trips that I know I definitely will not be getting to a studio during. Now for why I took off two starts and will probably be purchasing a different travel mat:1. As I mentioned above – this mat is on the thicker side. While it folds up very easily and into a great easy to pack rectangle, it still takes up quite a bit of room. I use a standard international carry on size hard shell roller bag. This mat takes up about 1/4 of that bag.The thickness of this mat is great if I get to a studio, but completely unnecessary on carpeted hotel floors. The space this mat takes up is the equivalent of 2 pairs of heels or 5 days worth of clothing in a compression bag. Not worth it when I know I’m not making it to a studio.2. The other issue I have with this mat – and I assume I would with any ‘folded’ mat – are the creases. This mat folds nicely because the creases makes it easy to follow. However- that means it doesn’t lie flat. So if you’re like me and not a stellar yogi who sometimes catches their foot on the mat when changing positions- then you run the very likely risk of catching a lifted/not flat part of the mat and tripping yourself up. I wouldn’t call it dangerous, but annoying for sure.

I really wanted a folding yoga mat because I hate the inconvenience of rolling up and carrying the traditional mats, walking through doorways and bumping into everything.I noticed my yoga instructor using this mat and this is how I found out about it. This particular Matt made by Gaiam is excellent quality. And that material is nice and dense and wonât crumble apart on you. Walmart sells a folding day yoga mat as well, I did get a chance to have a look at it ( Walmart mat) and the material is very soft, sliding you can tell it will start to crumble apart in no time. You wonât have that problem with a Gaiam mat.The only one negative thing about this mat is that it is thin, but that is what makes it so portable. I donât find it uncomfortable at all and I would say I go to yoga classes twice a week.
