Best option of 3 devices tried
First, this is my experience with 3 different devices — your experience might be different. As many reviewers have said, practice is key to have comfort with these devices when using outdoors. Try first in the shower, then at home in the bathroom before trying outdoors. With all of these, zipped pants/shorts work better than drawstring ones, as you can unzip and not need to pull down your clothing. For the Freshette and the EllaPee, you can use the hand not holding the device to pull your underwear to the side.I’ve had a P-style for years and used it occasionally. Pros: single piece of hard plastic that doesn’t collapse. Easy to store and clean. Smallest of the three devices. Cons: open at the top so spillage is more likely. Using the hard plastic to ‘wipe’ needs care. Can’t easily pull underwear to the side and use it without risk of spilling/leaks.I also have a newer version ‘Freshette’ and have practiced with it but not used on hikes. Pros: the design ‘cups’ your ladybits and the open area is closed against your body so reduces spillage possibility. Silicon is fairly rigid so doesn’t collapse and isn’t as hard a material as the p-style. Cons: the tube connects to the body of the device and is an obvious failure point if not *firmly* sealed to the body of the device. If you make sure it’s fully sealed at home, then that might not be the case after jostling around in a ziplock in your backpack. The EllaPee for me is the best of the trio. Pros: also cups your ladybits and the top/large opening is closed against your body. The main portion is soft silicon with a harder silicon support structure. Single piece to reduce failure points. Easiest of the three to use when wearing zipped pants/shorts and pulling underwear to the side. Cons: it’s larger than the p-style but smaller than the Freshette. The bag it comes with is big enough only for the device, so it won’t carry any wipes to clean either yourself or the device–but that’s a really minor con for me.

Wonderful!
I purchased this for an off the grid camping trip, and it was a total game changer. Many times I’ve been out camping or hiking and had the “call of nature” at just the wrong time (I can’t tell you just how badly I hate having to squat out in the middle of nowhere) but no more! I read the reviews on many versions of this product and there seem to be many that have a tendency to either collapse while in use, or just overflow – but I never had any issues with this one. It seems well made and able to hold up to the first-thing-in-the-morning flow with ease. The only time I had any problem was because I didn’t have it quite far enough back to get full coverage (there can be a slight learning curve with it), and that was completely my fault. If you’re tired of either trying to hold it far longer than you should, or just tired of the exposure and mess (splash-back) of squatting – this is the one to buy!

Game changer for me
I’d looked at these type of units before but never quite hit the “buy” button. I freaking love this thing now and can’t believe I didn’t get one years ago. A recent trip to Hawaii led me to seriously look again, and I decided on this one for a few reasons:1. Hybrid construction: the combination of a rigid support structure with a soft silicone body was the reason I chose this one. All the other ones were either hard plastic or completely soft silicone. This is the key to why I love it; I can seat it securely with a good seal (soft edge), direct the flow (soft spout) and it’s comfortable to keep a firm grip (rigid), without it collapsing (rigid) like only silicone would. It’s the perfect combination.2. The carrying case was nice so I could “palm” it on the way to the bathroom without being obvious, and at one point my bag was too full so I just clipped it on the outside without a problem or concern.3. The silicone interior was easy to wipe out with toilet paper and wipes in the stall until I could properly clean it while still feeling sanitary and not gross.I’m approaching fifty and I’m over the only options being: squat over toilets or feel like I’m sitting on unsanitary surfaces at best or disgusting wetness at worst. Wearing a backpack causes a further issues because it’s hard to balance while squatting; I’m over it. I needed a Plan C. This one creates a nice firm seal and I could relieve myself even with a strong flow without spillage. Tipping the unit forward as you remove it pulls any lingering wetness off your body, and the slippery silicone sheds all the liquid except maybe a couple drops. I used it at the airport, on the plane (long flights = disgusting bathrooms), at national park hole-in-the-floor latrines, and on a hike. I was ecstatic I didn’t have to squat and it made relieving myself easy and quick.I know the size is an issue for some people, but it didn’t bother me. It’s not ‘small’ but I think it’s discreet enough in the carrying case. I could fit it easily in a small shoulder sling-style purse. I prefer the larger size for holding it because I never peed on my hand once. I did have one accident because I tried to rush and didn’t seal it correctly against my body. Totally user error. Learned my lesson and never had a problem again. This is a staple in my bag now and I’ll never leave home without it!

Very good quality! Important that it’s sturdy. Helped my daughter after surgery when she couldn’t sit.

I did a lot of research looking something suitable to use whilst travelling etc. I cannot recommend this product enough. It was easy to use, no problems at all and I do have to add extremely liberating, no more having to wait for a suitable toilet.

No huele, no nada. Eso sÃÂ, en cuanto puedo la lavo con jabón y la dejo secar al aire.La recomiendo tanto como las copas menstruales. Es una chulada!
