Great buy for quick sharpening of any knife!
Purchased one to try since I have a few different sharpeners. I have a ceramic sharpener in the kitchen that I’ve used often, but it just doesn’t do a great job at fixing a dull edge. Having the carbide sharpening slot on this device has definitely given some of my older knives a new edge. A few strokes through the carbide sharpener and then through the ceramic slots (just read the directions) and my knives are razor sharp again.Advice: Do NOT listen to the video reviewer(s) who complain about it’s safety while they are sharpening their knives without holding the sharpener to a solid service and pulling the knife through. Of COURSE it’s dangerous if you are sliding this along a blade freehand – Darwin award to those. Be sure you hold the sharpener down on a solid surface (like a countertop) and pull the blade through. This keeps the angles correct for sharpening and your fingers safe from getting in the way!So happy with the results that I threw my older ceramic sharpener in the trash. Very happy with the results!

It works just fine!
I do not understand why people have trouble with this Smithâs knife sharpener. This evening with very little effort, I used this knife sharpener to put a nice edge on 3 different types of knives. First a key ring folder, a large Swiss Army one handed opener blade, and finally a Buck fixed blade. It took no more than 4 draws using the fine (ceramic) draw wheels to put a razor edge on all of these blades! Perhaps those complaining have little experience sharpening blades. I am not an amateur at this, but not a pro either. For a readily packable field unit, this little unit is well worth the price. I like that the wheels are replaceable if needed, and that the Diamond sharpener locks into the unit and locks openâ¦no problem with it breaking off or in half. Someone must be abusing it to have a problem with it. I do admit that I do not like scalloped edge blades, just give me a straight edged blade! So much easier reconditioned than any other type. In summary, I like it and it is going in my emergency box in my SUV!

For a hand held shapener this thing works very good. Great item to have when hiking, camping or shapening kitchen knives.

This sharpener is the greatest. Works great with all sizes if blades and you can even sharpen serrated blades. the unit was not embossed with the lettering seen in the sales photo but it looks the same.

This thing seems a bit cheap feeling at first glance, however using it, it feels well made, and does an excellent job of removing a dull edge and bringing a knife back to life. Very handy little thing to have and takes up virtually no space at all.
