Works great
These are my first set of cast iron. They are great for the price. Pre seasoned and perfect sizes for multiple dishes.

Perfect Sizes
Purchased these for my husband on father’s day. There is a perfect size for any type of meal you want to make. The small pan is great for eggs, medium pan is wonderful for fried potatoes and the larger on hold plenty of bacon or sausage to go with the potatoes and eggs!

nothing wrong with the pans
the only thing I may say negative about the pans. They could have a longer handle and be a little thicker. For the price a very good deal. l read all reviews complaining about rust or how ruff the surface was. Mine came individually sealed in zip lock bags with a moisture absorbing packet enclosed. There was no signs of rust. The ruff surface is due to the new way the iron is cast so the factory can quickly process cookware in bulk using a sprayed on nonstick coating. Even Lodge cookware now has a textured surface. The people that had broken handles were most likely caused by the way Amazon shipped them. Mine were poorly packed. The original manufacturers package was placed in a much larger box with no packing material to stop it from sliding around. Both ends of the Prime box were busted and when l opened it the pans were out of one end of the original package. l was expecting broken handles or missing pans. Cast iron is tuff but very brittle. Between the poor packaging and UPS handling it may have been dropped resulting in the breaks or cracks that caused one poster breaking the handle off while washing. Yes the box says dishwasher safe. Dishwashers are not the place for cast. The combination of soap typically hotter water temperature and long wash cycle will destroy the patina. The humidity involved in the drying cycle will instantly cause rust to form. You will have to strip and season again. Once you learn how to take care of your pans you will love them. l will buy more of these. They will make perfect gifts for friends. A good choice as an inexpensive startup set for young people to learn with.

Proper care
They are a good value for the money you will spend . Anyone who is having issues with them , here’s what you need to know . First , they have a rough finish , as they are pre-seasoned . What did I do ? Sanded that off . It’s not terrible , and will give you that smooth finish you want . Most cast iron that you buy today comes pre-seasoned . Then I washed it with mild dish soap ( think Ivory , or Dawn ) and WARM to HOT soapy water . Dry it using non lint cloth ( cut up on old clean t-shirt ) . Then to make sure it’s perfectly dry turn on a burner on medium and sit the pan on it for 5 minutes . While that’s going on I also turned my oven on to 400 degrees . It’s important to make sure that your pans are perfectly dry so I took the extra precaution of putting them into the oven for 10 minutes . Take them out using oven mitts , oiled them down using some clarified butter (unsalted ) making sure that I wiped down the whole pan , sides , bottom , handle , etc . Now wipe off extra oil put the pans into the oven upside down and bake for one hour . Also put them on the middle rack and line the bottom rack with tinfoil . Repeat the oiling down process and baking process 2 more times . You now have a base seasoning , and a smooth surface . It will now clean up really easy . To do that , run the pan under hot water , will it’s hot , NEVER use cold water ,( it will crack ) , use a wooden spoon to scrape off any food , use a lint free cloth ( piece of clean old cut up t-shirt ) , to dry it and stick it on a turned on burner or turned on oven for 5 minutes . That’s it . When cast iron heats up it is self cleaning , also it won’t rust . Over time you will get the black patina that you want . Then you can even cook acidic foods like tomato-based sauces in it .

The “preseason” is a fad – sticky and rusty
This isn’t my first rodeo with cast iron pans. This nifty little triplet come in different sizes, with the smaller two hardly being big enough to fit anything more than one or two fried eggs in. Oh, and they’re pretty hefty (but manageable).
Size often doesn’t matter, it’s what you can do or want to do with it, obviously. However, I used only the largest pan. They come “preseasoned” that makes it appear and the average person think that it’s ready to use out of the box; but do not be fooled by this claim.
I put it to the test and used the largest pan right out of the box – the meat was sticking and left an awful residue on the bottom of the pan. I scrubbed it until what seemed like my fingers would bleed and finally got it to a point where I thought it was clean. Onto the next trial!
I stripped the pans. And then I reseasoned them quite a few times over a 12 hour period, and then once more the next day. Yes, the smell was not nice but I figured these seemed durable and well made so might as well give them a second chance. I tried the same meal later, unfortunately same issue – things sticking to the bottom and making it nearly impossible to clean.
I’ve never had a problem with cast irons sticking so much. Not sure what’s up with these, but preseason or self season didn’t seem to want to stick on the pan.

I love these pans
When I moved out to live on my own, I never thought that I would learn to love cookware. Well, I am old now, and I have learned to love cookware–these pans specifically. They are heavy as hell. I love that, the weight. They are red and black. I love that too. Good colors. They heat evenly. They cook evenly. I didn’t know that crappy pans were making me a bad cook before. They were. Bad tools = bad cook. These pans make it easy to poach eggs, and that is supposed to be a difficult task. Improve your game in the kitchen. Buy these pans. Poach eggs. Love yourself a little more.

Nice set of pans
I bought these pans in hopes of ridding our household of any kind of Teflon or pfoa in our cookware. I was worried they would not be non stick. They arenĂ¢Â€Â™t too hard to clean as long as you clean them right away. They are a little on the heavy size and the small one is really really small. The green color is too retro for me but I kept them anyway. Overall good price for a good product. I would reccomend

I simply cannot understand how anyone could be negative about these pans, they are totally fine.
They arrive pre-seasoned but I chose to ignore that. I washed the pans with clean, hot water. Dried them thoroughly, then applied a very small coating of oil to the surface. I cannot stress enough that only a small amount is needed for this. The best thing is to put oil into the pan and wipe it around with a clean cloth. Remove as much as you can. Then remove some more. It looks as if there is no oil in the pan. Now I put the pan onto a medium/high heat and watched it. It will smoke but that’s ok. When it stops smoking, it is done. Let it cool down and it is seasoned.
Tip: for eggs, use butter to ensure a non-stick fried egg.
