Excellent camera
I have been using Wyze products from the beginning and this has to be one of their best. Picture quality is great and setup is quick and easy. Have one indoors and one outdoors. Night vision is great on both. Don’t know that I like the zoom to motion feature, but it is easy to switch off. I would highly recommend it as an indoor or outdoor camera.

You CAN watch past footage without any subscription – as long as youâve inserted an SD card.
Iâm not sure why so many reviewers here are complaining about not being able to see their footage without a subscription. I can view my vids just fine. You just need to click on âSD cardâ and you can see your events that were recorded onto your SD card. Donât scroll on the timeline on the main window otherwise youâll just see your thumbnails and prompts to upgrade.
Aside from this UI annoyance (well – itâs an annoyance if you donât know that you have to click on âSD cardâ to see your SD card footageâ¦) everything else is good. I used to own several of their v3 cams and I like the addition of the spotlight and faster response times in this version.
The increased resolution didnât seem like much of an upgrade to me. 2K looks much the same as HD on my screenâ¦
Iâd still say the cam is very good value for money though.
The only reason Iâm not giving it 5 stars is because of the companyâs security incidents affecting previous models. I really hope we wonât see any more terrible responses to security incidents in the futureâ¦
OVERALLâ¦
Hardware: Very good. Fast response and feels sturdy.
Software: Very good (but may not be intuitive enough for certain peopleâ¦)
Security: Yet to be seen with this model. And unsure as to whether the company on the whole is improving in this area.
Aesthetics: A Borat âvery niceâ.
Value for money: Very good.

Better than other cameras
The Wyze v4 2k camera is great. It’s easy to set up and has great picture quality. One of the main reasons I purchased this security camera is because it uses IFTTT (if this, then that). This means that you don’t have to be hooked on the Google or Amazon ecosystem. IFTTT lets you connect to other devices or even web pages to view the video this camera is taking.

Work great and easy to setup. This model does not pan. I began using this system June 2024
Works great thus far. I just began using this system June 2024 and am only using them internally. I found this system very easy to setup and use. If you want to pan, this model does not have that function – select another. In my opinion, I think all cameras offered by any systems should pan but that’s just my opinion.

Wyze Cam v4 now crippled to no longer work without subscription – highly misleading description
Wyze Cam v3 works perfectly, able to store motion-triggered video clips to the internal memory card, and play back upon demand. One could take out a subscription, but one did not have to. But with the newer v4, the resolution of the camera was improved, and the night-vision is brighter/clearer. BUT Wyze decided to no longer sell ‘video surveillance cameras’ (as promoted), as they store only still images and no video. When motion is detected by v4, only a single still frame is stored away, and that still image often shows nothing of the action to come. The v4 is a ‘bait and switch’ deception to get customers to spend 10x more over a decade :- to now record video you need the $30 camera plus $30/year to get what was an included free feature with v3. But hey, on the upside, Wyze now gets 10x more revenue! The v4 hardware is fine, but the software has been intentional downgraded to no longer work as advertised (‘local or cloud’). In case you think I may have misunderstood how to use the product, I’m an electrical engineer with degrees from Usyd and Harvard, and I’ve worked for decades in software development. Stick with v3 if you don’t want to be cheated by an unscrupulous board.

For the price these have to be the best cameras
I have 5 wyze cams now and the V4 is a massive upgrade. The picture quality is amazing, the motion detection is so damn good. No false alerts and picks up motion from a great distance. Pic quality at night is great as well. The only con with Wyze is their monthly fee for the cam plus but it is worth it imo at this point.

I have many Wyze cameras of the different versions. This one is the best yet. Hopefully the price comes down but still a decent value. Night vision is great and the best upgrade is the microphone and speaker. Video quality is a slight improvement over the v3 but you give up some wide angle advantages the v3 had.

For $50 this thing is pretty baller, takes 2 seconds to set up. Then once you adjust your detection settings what not itâs flawless, not the slightest bit of lag. The 2 way speaker is wicked
Amazon Customer –
Picture quality is way over contrasted. Purchased two of these cameras and the one camera won’t detect motion at all, the settings are all correct. The lens on the one camera looked off before we installed it but decided to do so anyways. Nothing but problems. Like other users have said, connectivity can be an issue even though we have incredibly strong internet and the cameras are close to modem. It was easy to install, the spotlight is bright and helpful at night but that’s about it for pros.

I’ve been using Wyze cams since V2. Nope by no means are they prefect nor do I consider them an actual security camera, so they get mounted outside in areas for general observation purposes only. Reliability for me has been in the high ninety’s range so considering price paid very tough to complain.
When it come to the V4 cam’s finding the improvement to be more under the hood and within the app such as quick access to recent events, than in the image quality itself. Yes the 2K is better yet not to the degree one would expect… Firmware over time may improve upon that aspect some so we’ll see. Glad Wyze chose to offer two colour variants as the grey/black variant better suits my home’s siding, which shouldn’t discolour nearly as much over time either.
Like everything out there these days “free” is becoming something of the past and Wyze is no different. As such the V4’s are not eligible for Wyze Cam Lite plan. I pay a monthly subscription fee for mine but those who’d rather not are going to have to rely on the local recording feature via SD card.
So yeah I can easy recommend these for anyone who wants something for general outdoor surveillance use.

Having bought the previous versions V2, V3 and now V4. The camera lives up to the legacy of the previous versions and builds on it. The camera has excellent features and works good at night.
