13 reviews for 74″-Camera-Tripod, Gray Porfessional Aluminum Heavy Duty Tripod Stand for Mirrorless Camera/DSLR/Cell Phone/Camcorder, with Holder and Travel Bag (Gunmetal Gray)
Exellent inexpensive camera tripod I’ve used several inexpensive tripods over the years and this is by far the best one I’ve ever had. I use it for mounting environmental sensors on square aluminum tubing with a 1/4″ threaded hole in the tube to mount to the camera adapter. All the adjustments are needed to get the sensors oriented properly and this tripod is perfectly suitable for that purpose. Yes, there’s a lot of plastic, but definitely recommended for anything short of, perhaps, really heavy equipment.
Great tripod, but not heavy-duty This is a really nice tripod for a variety of reasons. The build quality is great. I love the telescoping legs that snap into position. My original tripod used a twisting mechanism to extend and tighten the legs. That method was doomed to fail because sometimes it’s hard to tighten them completely when you have arthritis like I do. This snap way of locking the legs into position is far superior. This item comes in a nice zippered bag with a handle, making it easy to carry. It’s relatively light-weight. There is a handle for adjusting the pan movement that does not collapse completely when trying to store it in the bag. That means you have to remove that handle if you want to keep it in the bag. It’s not a big deal, but it would be nice to have it adjust in such a way that you could leave the handle on it when putting it into the bag. This is easy to put together and it comes with an extra installation board so that you can have the board already attached to your camera and easily place it onto the tripod. The extra board is great for a 2nd camera, or cell phone, or laser level, etc, so you don’t have to take time to screw and unscrew the 2nd item. You just pull one lever and the old board with camera comes off the tripod, and then you place your 2nd item already attached to the 2nd board, onto the tripod. Nice and quick! The movements and adjustments are easy to do and the knobs are easy to lock into your desired position. I like the center pole hook too, so I can hang something like my camera bag from the hook, to give the tripod and my camera some extra stability. The feet are self-adjusting, so if you’re on an unlevel surface your tripod is still sturdy.I gave this item 4 stars instead of 5 because I do not feel it is truly “heavy-duty” as the ad states. Also, at a higher extension, this does get wobbly. With a very expensive camera attached to it, I never extend it all the way up. It would be top heavy and doomed to fall over and break my camera. For my purposes though, this doesn’t affect me, but it should be noted for others to think about for their needs. This is a great price for a feature packed tripod that’s easy to carry and use.
Workes Better than my Name-brand Tripod Just looking and it and using it a couple of times, I can say it’s actually better than my Targis Tripod. The plastic clips look thick and strong (they broke on my Targis) the legs telescope smoothly and easily. The adjustment knobs work well and lock the camera in the right place without hassle. Can’t ask for more from a tripod.
Exceeds expectations, an excellent product if you dedicate yourself to professional photography Good quality, good material and easy to use, definitely if you want to start in the world of professional photography, this element is basic to start
Take the words “Heavy Duty” out of the ad and this is a 5 star product I debated between 3 and 4 stars for this tripod, and went with 4 for a couple of reasons. First, the Amazon ranking system sees 3 stars as a negative review, and while this tripod isn’t everything I’d hoped, it is a good value for the price, and, second with a few work-arounds and limitations, it can be used for a number of tasks normally beyond tripods in this range.First, the limitations. To start, the weight capacity of the tripod is listed at 4kg or 8.8 lbs. That’s not “heavy duty” by any stretch of the imagination. A DSLR plus a 70-200 zoom lens is going to push this tripod to its limit.Second, the legs are undersized for their length. Extend this tripod to its maximum height, and you’ll notice a lot of sway and twist when you’re close to the rated load.Third, the center extension raising the head to its full 74″ height wobbles severely, making this tripod useless for long exposures at its full load and full height. So with these problems, why did I give it a 4 star rating? Because for under $50, you won’t find any other tripod that will do any better, and most are much, much worse. And, with a few simple work-arounds, most of the weaknesses of this tripod can be eliminated.First, dont extend it to it’s full height. Extend the heavier leg segments first. Three out of the four is as far as I would go.Second, hang a weight (I use my camera bag) from the center post using the hook provided. The ballast helps reinforce the tripod legs, eliminating or at least greatly reducing the sway and twist.Third, leave the center column retracted as much as possible and tighten down the locking screw if you do extend it. This will reduce the play in the column.Fourth, balance your load. When using heavier camera equipment, attach it to the tripod as close to its center of gravity as possible. THis will give you the maximum stability performance out of the tripod.Fifth, lighten the load. Try to use the tripod for lighter cameras and lenses. It worked very well for my phone camera, and for my lighter DSLR and lens combinations. The attached picture is a 10 second exposure taken on my S24 Ultra of the Northern Lights on 5-10. You can see the tripod did an excellent job of keeping the phone steady during the long exposure. In the end, is this tripod worth the money? Absolutely! As long as you recognize its limitations, and work within them, you will find it a very light and useful addition to your kit.
