Customers say
Customers like the tent for its dark room tech, saying it lets in zero light. They also appreciate the easy setup and take down. However, some customers have reported issues with water resistance, folding, and size. They mention that the tent is not waterproof, is difficult to fold, and is too small.

Don’t know why I waited so long to get this –
Easiest set up and tear down.
Love how it just pops open. However I can’t not get it back down to size for the bag it comes with!

Performs exactly as advertised – could be a lot better but does what it says it does
Haven’t had it in any rain yet so can’t speak to water resistance but as a Coleman product I am not worried about it not being able to handle the rain. It will be hard to get in and out of during an active rain event without water coming in through the open door flap due to its oval arch shaped design. It also has no ventilation with the rain fly on which is a bummer in hotter temps when you might get an overnight rain storm but the screen roof combined with rain fly minimizes collection of condensation on the inside of the tent, which is ultimately whey I chose this instant popup tent over the few other choices as wet inside the tent is the worst 🙂 If Coleman folks are reading the things that would push this product to the absolute top of the pile would be to correct the issues I’ve highlighted in this review and to add integrated awnings to eliminate or at least minimize water penetration into the the door of the tent when entering or exiting during active rain. Also a few more hooks and storage pouches on the inside would be really helpful.

Works
I was excited for this tent, being pop-up and dark inside. And those features worked just as described. All I needed to do was throw the tent in the air and it put itself up. And it was very dark but sometimes too dark and I couldn’t find anything. The way the door is designed is a little weird. It opens down and into the tent, so any rain on the outside of the door comes pouring in. This is not a wet weather tent but can stand up to rain if needed.

Easy
The overall set up for the tent is super easy! Putting the item back together is another story, the directions are not very clear on how to do so so I would recommend watching the YouTube video. Also super disappointed in the tent condition, noticed a snake on our first use of the tent. I would say the value of the money is not worth the purchase.

Great tent
I absolutely love this tent. Definitely good for two people and maybe a child but three or four adults is pushing it. Tent setup and take down is super easy. I was able to put it away with ease after watching the video and setting it up at home once. I do recommend buying a footprint or as I did was put down a tarp under the tent. It gets pretty dark in there.

Standard, a bit disappointing
Bought this for blackout abilities but the seams do not overlap allowing light to filter in which is disappointing when you buy the product for the darkening feature. Great pop-up, fast set up but folding takes quite a bit of thought, can be done however. Compact to pack, lays flat. You have to go outside to open the fly to see out when you want to…. this is great in rain as you can get fresh air with Fly covering windows well, but if you want to look out when inside, you cannot without removing the fly. When camping, if you hear a noise outside you want to check, you have to open the door and step out vsa quick peak through a window. Nice product but a couple of flaws.

Dark room is well worth it
This is my second Coleman pop-up tent. I got this one, because my girlfriend and I couldn’t fit our sleeping pads in the 2 person, so I pretty much had to get a 4 person. Despite the fact that our sleeping pads are really big, the 4 person fits them without a problem and it is supposed to fit a queen size mattress as well. The dark room technology was an extra $20 and it was well worth it! We slept in until 8 in the middle of summer and, with eyes shut, couldn’t tell that the sun was up. The only downside is that when your eyes are adjusted to the light and you’re going into the tent, you can’t see. So you need a lantern to see inside most of the time (when your eyes aren’t adjusted). I saw another review about how they couldn’t fit the tent back in the bag. I think they just didn’t do it right, because I put the tent back in the bag and also have enough space for a footprint and a small fold up chair in the bag.

DO NOT BUY THIS TOY: 4 Reasons why.
This Coleman tent does fulfills its two main promises: quick installation and total blackness. However, these two main promises are not enough to offer a good quality tent. After using it two weeks ago in a cross country roadtrip, these are the faults I found on the tent and the reasons why you should avoid buying this tent:First, the folding back into its bag is a very challenging process, and requieres some luck. The time you save assembling the tent, you exponentially loose it when folding it back.Second, the total black is great; however the fabric paint is patchy. Because the priority is total Blackness, you only have one side mesh, which do not ventilates the tent well. It gets very hot inside, even when using a fan.Third, the Size, folded and expanded, it’s unconvenient. Whe the tent is folded back into its bag, it takes a lot of space as it can’t be rolled. The diameter of the bag is up to 35.5 inches, rendering the tent useless for backpacking. On the other hand, once the tent unfolds, it’s wide enough for 4 people; nontheless, it’s extremely low for a tent not design for Mountain Camping. The intent of lower tents is to resist high winds, commonly found in Mountain and hiking camping. You have to crawl down to enter and access the inside of the tent.Fourth, and last, it only has two security ropes to avoid wind movements. The rain cover is not to the ground, and only have 6 stakes (3 at each long end) none at the center.I was hoping for a more reliable, consistent, and all ground tent. Instead I got a backyard tent.Thank you

This is amazing tent. You literally just open the bag and it pops up. You have to do nothing. The only thing is figuring out how to put it down. The video that is recommended on the bag does not show you the very last step needed to get it into the right size circle. You can put it into a circle easily but it’s too big for the bag. There’s a video right under it of the same tent but green and white and that video shows you how to do it properly!!!!It’s the easiest greatest tent. It’s actually amazing quality like it’s a beautiful tentI highly recommendI’ll never go back to a regular tent again!
