Sturdy and easy to assemble
I bought the medium-size (31.5″) black crate for the 32-pound cocker spaniel I just adopted and he has plenty of room to stand up and lay down. Two of us were able to assemble it in about 30 minutes and it feels sturdy. The crate is next to our bed and we use it for a nightstand. The dog is skittish around new people and we leave the door open when we have company so the dog can retreat to his safe space if he gets overwhelmed.

Really Pretty
One person can put it together with the provided tools, but two will work better. You really need a table and plenty of space. I did it with neither. It is a really nice piece of furniture. It takes a cat about five seconds to figure out how to escape through the sides or bottom. As another person pointed out, I would be concerned about a small dog getting its head caught in the spaces at the sides on the top. I have no idea why they left that much space as joining the sides to the top would make it structurally stronger. I am not certain how much weight it will hold internally but I weigh 200 pounds and I have leaned heavily on the top without it budging. It is by no stretch of the imagination internally water proof. Cleaning it isn’t easy. To be honest, I’m using it for storage and to keep my cats away from my houseplants but not to house any animals. Cats are a definite no in it and I would worry about dogs. But it is really, really nice looking.

It is a nice furniture dog crate, but not suitable for all temperaments of dogs.
I requested this dog furniture style dog crate for review.Note: My background for reviewing this dog crate is that of someone who has shown dogs obedience and conformation for over 20 years.I requested this crate to be reviewed because of its weight-bearing load on top…160 pounds. I’m using it to stack another regular wire crate on top of this one.It is a nice furniture-style dog crate, but it is not suitable for all temperaments of dogs. Because of the open spaces above the wire, and the wooden floor; I would not recommend this dog crate for nervous, anxious, or hyper dogs. I would not use this for a dog that digs unless a metal tray is added to the bottom. My dog is not a digger in his crate, but I will still add a metal crate pan liner to the bottom since the wood material is not waterproof. I recommend this dog crate to be used for already crate-trained dogs with a calmer temperament. The assembly went fairly well, although the instructions could have been more clearly written. It is a nice-looking furniture dog crate to use for certain dogs.

Parts Not Labeled
The first one I received, was broken where the screws go into the top. I went to return it and they could replace it within 2 days. I went to put the second one together but nothing was labeled. The product is fine and steady, a little worried about the lock system on the double doors but we are trying it out.

It’s okay
This doesn’t seem very sturdy for a dog to use. The metal is open at the top, and it’s not the strongest of materials. Also the wood is cheaply made, more design vs function. I decided to use this for some foster kittens and I put their litter box in there and left a door open. They seem to like that there is privacy. I also put their food on top, helping me save on space. So, good for a litter box system but I wouldn’t feel comfortable using this for a dog.

Looks really nice, but I’m concerned about the gaps in a few areas)
Assembly was fairly easy (though the instructions could be more clear), and the product provides all the tools you will need. It’s pretty sturdy as there are cross-beams underneath the floor and top, and it has a nice wooden pattern which looks nice in our living room. There are some design flaws that prevent me from giving it 5 stars.First, there is a fairly large gap in the front between the floorboard and front beam that a pet can feasibly get teeth or claws into and slowly destroy the crate/break free/get stuck. I’ve provided a photo of this.Second, there are four screws in the floorboard that are raised, which makes it uncomfortable for the pet to sit or lay down. I double-checked the instructions and this is the only way that I can see to assemble the item (it is the only way to attach the floor board to cross beams underneath). Interestingly enough, none of the product photos or other reviews show these screws, so it’s possible we assembled it wrong (the instructions weren’t very clear).Third, there are large gaps between the top and side panels. I’m concerned that my dog might get his head stuck in there (he’s a little 20 lb dog).Overall, this is a nice looking crate. But because of the gaps I’m a little afraid to leave my dog in it unsupervised for lengthy periods of time. I find if I will be leaving the house for a few hours, I pull out my old dog crate and use that instead, since I know he can’t get hung up in it. I wish it was as pretty as this one.

Good design, poor execution
This is a great little kit but we had nothing but problems with it. Many of the holes were not drilled out so we had to drill them out ourselves. Some items are riveted and some are screwed on.The instructions are not clear about which screws to use in every situation so we ended up using the wrong ones to attach certain components. We were able to make it work and it IS a good and sturdy kennel. But it left a lot to be desired.
