This book includss just about everything a youung woman must know, when starting out o her own. It is written in a chcery, upbeat, and “veddy” British style, (the author IS English) — but advice from this book can be taken by any young woman starting out on her won, living in any developed country of the world. It is very witty, and very, very wise — and the illustrations add to the general merriment and proven strategies and maxims, to help you not only live on your own –but also to grown, and thrive whilst doing so. A winning book which teaches thouse just starting out on their own, ( in clever, warm, wise and entertaining, upbeat language, with many hints and examples), how to BE winners, as well! The very highest of recommendations!

Good book for women just starting out in life.
After reading some of the less than 3 star reviews I felt it was time to write my own.I purchased this book a few months ago with one goal in mind and that was “How to walk in High Heels” and it did what the title said I learned at the age of 38 how to walk in my very first pair of YVes Saint Laurent Tribute high heels. Some other reviewers say “oh the writer just told you things that your mom should have already told you” but, take this into consideration… What if you did not have a mom or anyone else to tell or teach you such things how would you learn?I was an 70’s child and in those days most women were single mothers because of divorce, death or choice. Most mothers I knew were too busy trying to bring home the bacon and frying it up in the pan to teach their daughters how to walk in high heels or anything else that even remotely looks June Cleaverish. When my mom cleaned house she was not wearing stiletto to vacuum nor pearls to get on her hands and knees to wax the kitchen floor. She wore dungarees and some Beta Bullet sneakers for darn near everything and still does(- beta bullets now it is Keds) to this day. Sure, She got dressed for church on Sunday but in our faith women were not allowed to wear makeup, short dress (anything above the ankle was too short) and most of all High heels or as the Elders would call them walking in the shoes of Satan; So I never learned. The author of this book used her life experiences to teach others how to cope with their lack of knowledge on things like why most women carried oversize purses ( I thought to carry important papers, candy and other junk) or what tea or wine goes with what meal. Yes, I was clueless to these things. Now I have a young daughter and when she gets older and ask I can pass on this book to her. The only thing I wish is that the author touch on other things like how to wear a bra correctly and convert shoe and clothes size when you buy these items from overseas. Now I don’t agree with eveything in this book like living above your means but Camilla Morton does try to help like an funny as hell understanding friend.

A great starter novel for every girl….
So I normally won’t pull out of my genre of Romance, but given this is also a beauty blog, I feel the need to introduce a book to you if you haven’t already read it. How to Walk in High Heels is a great how to book about fashion, beauty and just generally being a fantastic girl! Great for all ages, although some suggestions might be a bit risque for young teens, it is a fantastic addition to your collection. Little things like how to be more tech savvy are covered. Trust me when I tell you, I spent a LOT of time in that section of the book!It also has contributing authors like Heidi Klum on how to dress and build a wardrobe. Just all around fun stuff! So if you are feeling a little girly and you want to dive into the fashion & beauty world, here is your chance!

Got it as a guide to the galaxy for my girl
Looking over this book I was like that’s really cool so I’m definitely gonna be handing out a few as gifts. I know it’s hard for parents to communicate just as hard as it is for our kids to listen but this is really helpful for those who learn in a different way. Got it for my girl mostly due to her wanting a pair of heals to walk in lol

I could have survived without it
What you have here is the book that’s described as “the book that every woman needs to buy”. Sold? Yeah, but only if you can get it cheap enough. And I’m talking DEAD cheap. Thankfully, my copy was cheap, and I also didn’t buy it.Everything that a woman could ever need tips on is included in this. And some things that you would never really need to know. I spent most of the first half laughing out loud (the writer is really sarcastic – don’t chat when you’re getting your fringe cut, otherwise you’ll end up without an eyeball, or hair in your mouth), and the second half skipping the pages, to try and find what happened to the good stuff. What I did find interesting was the hair & makeup stuff, anything about clothes, how NOT to wear a hat, and how to play poker. What didn’t I find interesting? As an early 20something, who’s still living at home, the stuff about mortgages, how to make friends with your bank manager, how to feng shui your home (does anyone actually understand this?), how to make the most of your money each month, how to budget for Christmas, how to use your garden to your best advantage, and other boring trash. This really didn’t interest me, although I suppose it might be vice versa with other people.I’d highly recommend if you really need this book (it only took me a couple of hours to read mind!) then you budget, or get it really cheap, or if need be, second hand. It’s not an absolute necessity, unless you really do plan on reading every single word.

A good basic guide for tweens and even older ladies
We sometimes assume that young girls absorb by osmosis all that is needed to become a successful, graceful, and competent woman. Every girl will not benefit from every piece of information in this book, but I believe every girl will learn something from it that she can use in daily living. The book covers basic cooking, sewing, travel tips, and how-to advice for the house, among many other subjects. Obviously a tween will not be trying to hail a cab but perhaps information she reads here will stick with her in later years when this will be useful for her to know. The book itself is a pretty book with nice cover illustration and pretty thick. I’m giving this as a Christmas gift but am seriously considering getting one for myself to keep as a handy reference.

This book’s got the perfect Tipps for any girl on how to be and act more feminine. I think the title is a bit misleading because the book is majorly about Femininity. That’s just my opinion though. All in all love the book

After reading a few introductory pages of this book, I felt that this book constrains you to do what you love. It basically has a set of rules that you need to follow to look glamrous even when you not feel it from inside. It definitely restricts you and sets limitations. I believe whatever you wear you should be comfortable and you should love it but the book talks about what others might think and whatever it has, it is to impress others even when you’re not happy with yourself.I’m highly disappointed with this one.

I loved the fashion & beauty sections, but the book falls flat where Morton tries to give advice on stuff she neither knows nor cares about (read: home maintenance & paying your mortgage). The rest of it is utterly charming, though, and I love the little asides from Morton’s various famous designer friends. Her advice about maximizing your good bits and minimizing the rest is spot on, and her writing voice is lovely.Seriously though, Camila, don’t tell me how to handle buying electronics.
