Excellent product. does what it says it does, but to be used properly, you need to unscrew your tripod head off and screw this mount direct to the headless tripod. Or else the knobs are impeaded by the tripod head base. not all tripods will fit this mount direct….. but if yours fits, this is excellent

Great Gadget
I ordered this to use for my phone on a tripod to take still photography. It’s very sturdy, a bit hard ( not difficult, just needs a strong grip ) to expand, but I’ll get used to it. All in all just as expected, works well and great price, plus arrived quickly.

Don’t be fooled by the screw. It is the traditional spring loaded cheapie on the other end
I thought I seen what I did but thought maybe I was wrong. Cause why even have half of it spring loaded an the other half screw. The purpose of the screw mounts is to get something secure so you can protect your $1000 device an move the tripod around even. My phone has fallen many times because the grips don’t really attempt to dig into my case or phone.Some reviews iirc said that it can hold phone cases as well. An it kinda can. The claw gets just to the end of a thick case to snug it. But it just doesn’t hold tightly either way. The spring loaded ones all will drop your devices. That’s why I chose this cause it appeared to be screw down. If you shake your tripod ; like moving it an inch to adjust position; it’s liable to drop the phone. Sometimes it dropped it just from being angled down.I can’t recommend ANY spring loaded mount. My previous one from a brand name I didn’t rebuy because the first screw version I found back in 2018 or so I can’t find anywhere anymore (was made by clearly a man engineering an selling them himself). An the old delanza one blocked the shoe mount area.The ones with the screws definitely need redesigned to where the mount for a mic or light isn’t in the way. Though now you can buy little screw clamps with attachment slots to attach elsewhere if using a large setup that you lug everywhere. Bottom Line tho. This has a screw but the other half is not very strong spring. none of the spring loaded ones are that strong specially after a few uses an the springs weaken. If not using in potrait mode they can pass. I dunno about you; but I don’t like seeing my phones hit the floor.
