Highly Recommended fast and smooth….
This is an update of a previous review of the Umidigi Power 3 unlocked cell phone. This is based on a second sample of the phone supplied to me by the manufacturer. After posting my initial review, of a unit purchased through Amazon, which indicated some displeasure, primarily with time needed to charge, and also with the fact that the phone locked up within 4 days of receiving it, requiring a complete reset, I returned that phone to Amazon for a refund. Shortly thereafter I purchased a different, somewhat more expensive phone by a different manufacturer. Not long after receiving this new phone, I was contacted by a representative from Umidigi asking if I would like to review a more recent version of the Power 3, with improved charging capability. I was impressed with the fact that there was enough concern by the manufacturer to make contact and offer a phone for review. It says they care about even the little things. One review. Amongst many highly positive reviews from others. I accepted and received the phone a few days ago. The other phone mentioned will be used for comparison, but will go unnamed as this is a review of the Power 3.First of all, the quality of construction is excellent. And with no disparage against the more expensive phone, the Power 3 has a higher quality feel to it. A soft matte finish which looks and feels a step up from it’s comparison. The case supplied with the Umidigi is excellent and unless you need something special, it’s probably all you will ever need for your Power 3.Display size between the two phones is noted as the same at 6.53 inches, and they are indeed exactly the same size diagonally. Both phones are 1080×2340 FHD displays. However, without making any changes whatsoever to either phone, the less expensive Power 3 has a richer color saturation and somewhat sharper image quality. This was not something I looked for. But it was something I noticed fairly easily. Both phones use MediaTek processors, the Power 3 a P60 vs a P90T in the comparison phone. The Power 3 has 4gb ram, the other phone 6gb. Both with 64gb on board. As could be expected, the Power 3 was bettered by the other phone in both Antutu and 3D Mark tests. However…and this is important, when used to play Call Of Duty Mobile, the Power 3 just felt smoother. Not by alot, but it was there. If one was to use each phone to play the game, a few times with each, most everyone would probably be able to pick which phone was being used in a blind test. The slightly better image quality, as mentioned previously, would be part of the evidence. Both phones showed medium detail with the game. I guess it shows that higher benchmark performance does not always equal better performance. Now to the battery charging. As mentioned, Umidigi indicated it had been improved by their techs. When setting up the phone an update was installed which indicated battery charging was part of the update. A few days after setup another update was available. It took awhile to discharge the battery to a point where I wanted to evaluate charging. It certainly has been improved. This battery is huge and lasts a long time. Charging, especially from 90-100% is definitely improved.I have deleted my initial review and replaced it with this one as it is far more indicative of what you will get with the current version of the Power 3.I want to thank Umidigi for making contact and providing one for further review. I’m glad I took opportunity to take a second look.Highly Recommended

Great hardware plagued by terrible WiFi issues and lack of software support
[Update: 4/30/21]WiFi connection issue is still happening many times per day. There has been one software update but it did not fix anything.[Update: 1/9/21]WiFi constantly loses internet access at random intervals while starting connected to the access point. Happens everywhere. Even when switching to “use device MAC” from randomized. No software updates since I got it. I don’t have a lot of hope for this.Fingerprint reader is still trash. It seems to ‘lose’ my fingerprint every few weeks. One tip if you have this is to put in a single finger as 2 or 3 different ones to increase the likelihood of it recognizing one.I do NOT recommend this any more.Original review:I switched from a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 which apparently supports 2 US 4G bands, while this phone supports 16.I had not heard of UMIDIGI before, but took a chance after watching some reviews.Pros:The phone feels very premium. The screen is beautiful and vibrant. I like not having the notch/holepunch.I don’t game on my phone, but it is very fast for my uses.IMO the camera(s) are perfectly adequate. Probably aren’t Samsung flagship tier, but a huge upgrade from any phone camera I’ve used before.Comes with a decent case (rubber, rough texture)Dual SIM / SIM+microsd tray.Supports crazy number of wireless bandsBootloader is unlockable in settings (have not tried this)Huge RAM and storage for the priceCons:I’ll also address some things that some people mention, but aren’t a problem for me.Pop up camera isn’t super fast. It takes about 2 seconds to open once it starts moving. I personally never take selfies, so I don’t ever intend on using it.Speaker isn’t amazing, but it’s adequate. I personally use headphones always, so whatever. Also no headphone jack, but comes with a USB-C adapter.Fingerprint sensor is optical (through the screen), and frankly is pretty bad compared to capacitive sensors. With my old Xiaomi phones, I was surprised when the fingerprint sensor didn’t work. With this phone, I am surprised if it does work. It takes some practice. I hope there is some software tweak to make this better in the future.AMOLED support is a bit lacking. No out of the box ambient display. Granted this is something Android has chosen for some reason. I use a 3rd party always on app. Default setting is to wake the screen when you pick up the phone. There is also no option to wake on double tap (I really miss this). (My always on app lets me do this though)Software is a bit odd. Claims to run stock Android, but actually is a slightly modified ROM. Comes with no bloat, but has some modified system apps (different skin for clock/calc, etc). Lacks some system settings that I’ve come to expect.Hardware: 9.5/10Software: 6.5/10Overall: 8/10Would definitely recommend if the cons don’t bother you. Definitely possible that the software can be improved. All in all, amazing value for what you get.

Regardless if it’s on 50 or 100 percent battery, this phone randomly just turns off. The battery seemed fine and it wasn’t over heating. Never in my life have I had a phone that randomly switches off.Like everyone else has said, volume was way off. Companies like this need to be looked at and checked to see how fraudulent they are. It’s sickening how you can have a company which hands out dodgy phones while they take the money. Companies like this need to be investigated and either sued or took down. You’re stealing people’s money.Bought an Oppo phone instead. Never looked back. Great phone. If it says battery is on 100 percent, it’s telling the truth. Wow. See, a phone can function properly.Check other reviews online concerning Umidigi phones, you’ll find loads that blast the company and their poor quality phones.
