Don’t hesitate
Buying shorts or any clothing online is a risk. But finding what you want in a store is almost impossible, so once in a while you need to just go for it. Low expectations were far exceeded! Lovely 5” inseam is perfect for someone that likes a little modesty. Soft, stretchy material that will work well for travel. I’m 5’3”, 140 lbs and size 9 fit perfectly, with a little extra room for those hideous weight ups and downs. Ordered two more pair.

Cute, really comfortable, finally!
Finally! A pair of shorts that I’ll look forward to wearing. It is so hard for me to find shorts that are both flattering and comfortable…and appropriate. I feel dumpy in longer shorts, and I’m getting too old [50-mumble] for 3″ seams. These 5″ inch seams hit me mid-thigh and look right. Mostly, I like that the material is incredibly soft and has some stretch to it so it feels really comfortable. I also like that, although they fit well across the hips and butt, they are not tight around the thighs. [A look that doesn’t work on me at all.] When finances improve, I’m getting at least one more pair in another color.
Notes about sizing: I’m 5’4, 146 pounds, with “petite” proportions. I have a 35″ waist but that’s in part due to having enlarged kidneys. Still, based on that measurement, I ordered a size 15. I put them on and they fell right to the floor. [lol] So, I ordered a 13. [BTW, I was pleased that they actually came faster than expected.] As stated above, the size 13 fit me nicely across the rear and are not tight around the thighs. They are still a bit loose at the waist…not quite as tapered in at the waist as others I’ve tried. I read some other reviews that complained about that. For me, it’s a good thing [my kidneys don’t like to be crowded] and it’s probably a plus for people who like to wear shirts tucked in, but probably not for someone that prefers a very tapered waist. The loose fit waist is the only reason I gave them four stars. Not a deal breaker but not a “perfect” fit.
They are made it Vietnam, for those that like to know these things. They appear to be very well made. 96% cotton, 4% Spandex, machine wash cold, low heat tumble dry.
One last note: the stitching details on the front pocket is not nearly as defined or obvious as it appears in the picture [black, anyway]. I am actually glad about that but thought I should mention it.
Overall, very pleased. Will buy another pair.

Love them
I usually prefer to buy clothes in the stores so you can try them on. These shorts fit perfectly. I typically wear a size 5, I bought a 5, and they fit, and looked, great. I love the style, the length, color, everything about them. They have just enough stretch in them, too. I’ve purchased Union Brand before, they have always been a good brand for me. I especially love them because I am 65 and don’t like my shorts too short. These were neither too short or too long. Great for younger and older women.

Fit is good, color and style way off
The shorts fit very well. Problem is they are not styles or colored nothing like the description. The stitching on pockets is completely different and the shorts and stitching are all solid navy blue. They look more like school uniform shorts vs the picture. There is nothing vintage looking about the vintage indigo color.

These Union Bay Darcy Shorts are great. They have plenty of stretch – are a medium weight and are suitable for warmer climates. I am a size 8-20 AU and the size 7 fits perfectly. If you like your shorts to sit lower on the hip and a bit looser – then a size 8 or 9. You can stretch them out a bit which is what I do with my size 7 and they are super comfy. The pockets on the back really make your butt look great – and the slanted pockets at the front work well. They are very comfortable and are more of a low rise. Love these so much and will buy another couple of pairs. Money well spent.
