Easy to use and chock full of features.
Wow, this camera has exceeded all my expectations. I’ve had a Canary, Foscam and Amcrest wireless cameras and have returned each due to some of their limitations. I’m not saying that they are bad (By the way I thought the Foscam had the best and clearest picture). Each one of those cameras had certain limitations on what you can do and view unless you signed up for their cloud based service. Accessing the files on the SD card had to be done either by manually removing it, or using some buggy software that would work in Windows IE but not on a Mac or other browsers, or you would have to use a separate FTP program and even that was buggy. Anyway, you had to jump through hoops to view the files (from the phone app) unless you bought the cloud service to be able to access the files. Otherwise you had to physically remove the SD Card each time and connect to a PC. Or use Windows and IE, or use the very buggy FTP which would sometimes require rebooting the camera because the FTP service would hang up.
Fast Forward to the Yi Camera. I bought it on Prime Day because it was cheap and I figured it’s better than nothing. This thing is amazing! So easy to setup (the others were also), but the software is very intuitive and you can do EVERYTHING from the mobile App. You can get alerts with short video previews which you can then opt to either view or download the entire clip right to your phone. You can also access ALL of the files on the SD card via the phone app with a beautifully created interface that has a nice timeline of showing the activity along with thumbnail previews. All of this can be done WITHOUT paying for their cloud service.
Night Vision is excellent and the Alert system works great and hasn’t missed a beat. I am beyond happy how useful the software is and easy to navigate. It’s also very reliable and any file I wanted to review was easily accessible and I could easily share or save with 1 click. I do wish the camera had some kind of mount on the bottom for like a tripod or other universal type connection, but double sided tape or velcro will work if I need to mount it somewhere. The 2 way talking is also better on this camera than any of the other ones I tried. The mic is sensitive and you can clearly hear what’s going on in the room and easily have a conversation with a person remotely without it dropping out or being hard to hear. This was another feature that really impressed me and I didn’t think was going to work this well on a camera at this price.
I would definitely purchase another one of these cameras (and probably will) not just because they are inexpensive, but they just work!

Great camera for the price, works reliably, easy to install and use
Installed two YI Home 1080p for my home. It’s been an amazing buy based on the first week of my experience. I used to have an old Q-SEE 6 cam clunky, wired up, poor quality video, rarely working DVR set that I replaced with Yi. So far I have been absolutely loving it.
What do I like about it ?
” Extremely easy to install. The “unwrap the package to go-live with the camera” time was less than 15 mins. Basically you download a mobile app, add the new camera to it & choose your wifi network on the mobile app, it generates a QR code that the new camera scans & viola its all set to go with a simple reset
” The mobile app integration is awesome. Easy to add a new camera and monitor the live picture and alerts
” The camera range and picture quality is good & you can zoom in & out in the mobile app as you watch the video covering the entire room.
” The mobile app allows you to do two-way audio conferencing through the camera. When we are away, we can watch the nanny as well as talk to our nanny thru the camera itself
” The motion alerting mechanism is quite good & very reliable. It does not generate spurious alerts. It reliably alerts as people come in & go into the alerting zone. It also captures the video clip just before, during & after the alert, so we can monitor the key events in the house. Further, you can also set the alerting window for the camera, so you can ignore the regions that don’t matter
” The 32 GB SD card for local storage is an awesome feature. Many indoor cams don’t have this. This allows us to store at least 2-3 days of videos locally. We will likely subscribe to the cloud service as its safer and more reliable in the event of a burglary.
” There is also desktop software integration in addition to mobile app, though this does not work as well. More on it later.
Dinged one star as the camera still has several areas for improvement:
” One feature that will be good to have is the ability to remotely maneuver the position of the camera so I can reach into the corners of the room the default position will not cover & have a “reset position” button to restore the cam in its original position. I think my old camera had this feature
” Consider adding a battery as power source to supplement the wired power source. This solves two problems:
o Completely eliminates wire during installation
o Battery as a backup powersource will make the camera even more reliable
Extra points if you can make the battery rechargeable, so we can swap a working set with a new set every 2-3 months.
” The camera is hard to mount in corners where two walls join. Typically that’s where you’d want to install the camera to cover the whole room. It has a flat bottom & a flat body that makes it difficult to setup the camera to cover the whole room. I had actually bought 3 cams, but returning one because in one of the rooms there is no flat surface high enough to install the cam & still cover the room.
” Consider adding timestamp/clock to the video. This is a BIG miss. In the even of a burglary, time in the video is critical portion of the evidence.
” Consider allowing a 64GB SD card in the slot. 32 GB is good, 64 would be better
” The Desktop software on my MAC cannot do all the things the mobile app does. Example: Playing the entire alert clip was not possible in the MAC desktop (but was possible on mobile)
Overall the camera works as promised and for the price I paid (approx. $45) it’s a good buy.

Facil de instalar, por su tamaño es facil de colorcar en cualquier rincon o superficie, la calidad de imagen es muy muy buena y se puede hacer amoliacion de zoom libremente. La alerta de deteccion de movimiento llega practicamente unos 2-3 segundos posterior a la detección, no pago la suscripcion pero te llega video de unos 8 segundos de actividad detectada, se puede grabar en vivo. El angulo de vision es amplio y cubre gran amplitud. La vision nocturna es de buena calidad
Lo malo es que no tiene AI que diferencie los movimientos, ya que se activa alerta en mi caso cuando esta la vision noctura y un mosquito/mosca pasa cerca de la camara manda alerta de movimiento detectado, la bocina y microfono funciona decente. Por el precio creo es una buena opcion.
