13 reviews for Nicesolar 20W 12V Mono Solar Panel Kit Monocrystalline PV Module System Charger Set for Off-Grid 12 Volt Battery Trickle Charge and Maintain
Works well – produces enough for off grid garden I have a garden that is off grid, basically too far from any power lines. Over time I have built a water tower and keep it filled from my pond by using a bilge pump to constantly pump water to the tower. The pond pump comes on when the water level drops and keeps the tower topped of. All is powered by this 20W solar panel that I just got and an older 12V battery.I connected the Solar Panel to one of the solar charge controllers that you can find on Amazon for a few bucks. From there I connected an older car battery and voila, we have enough power. Even the last few days while it was overcast and raining the panel provided enough power for the battery to kept topped off.
Okay Nicesolar 20W Mono Solar Panel 12V Monocrystalline Off-Grid 12 Volt Energy Charging for Camping GardenI ordered this solar panel on May 25th and it arrived on May 28th, shipped via USPS, left at our front gate, two items came in one box both intact and no damaged. I ordered this solar panel for one of my projects am designing a lean to green house, have been slowly ordering components once I determine what I need for my green house. The fit and finish is just okay, no sharp edge or burrs, decent packing to protect during transit, wiring and soldering could be better but I guess its only 20W 12V so not a big deal, my purpose is to charge a back up battery array that I am designing into my green house, will be in Series. I have not however purchased the controller but they are relatively inexpensive, less then $20. I’ll probably purchase the recommended controller for $12 on Amazon. It would have been nice if this solar panel came with mounting options, so I end up fabricating a simple bracket to secure it to the green house. I have extra straight aluminum strap material that is thick enough to withstand any strong wind gusts coming down the mountain.I am not an electrician so always have my friend assist when designing any project that has to deal with AC or DC, am very respectful when dealing with electricity, so it will be designed and wired correct. The green house will be pointing true South with no obstructions so will receive full sun almost all day. This project will not start until late 2024, so I cannot comment on performance/efficacy of this panel – only the build quality. The suggested MSRP is reasonable, but I still think they could have spent an extra twenty five cents of a mounting bracket. So Iâm deducting 1 star for that, am giving it a 4 Star rating; and they should have just included a controller and increased the price ten dollars.
Compact and light This is a well made 20w solar panel. The frame is full aluminum and feels sturdy. The panel face is smooth and well constructed. I do wish the wires had a connector on the end (barrel or any other commonly used connections), however it’s easy enough to add one as needed. The panel performs as expected in sunlight, and charges my battery bank with no issues. Overall a good value for a small panel.
Not Sure What To Say About This First off I somehow thought this came with the controller but it did not. So I will have to get a controller for it before I can use it as intended. Iâm sure I can find one at our local fleet store. Secondly I noticed a stretch of the silver line on the face is much thinner than all the other silver lines (which I assume are conductors) so I do not know if this is a flaw or a normal part of the construction. You can see what I mean in the one picture. I guess I need to do some research on solar panels. That being said this seems to be of decent material and has mounting holes in the aluminum frame on the back and the wires for connecting to the controller. My intended use was for keeping a charge on the trolling motor battery on the pontoon in the summer and then moving it to the ice fishing house in the winter for keeping the battery that runs the lights charged. Once I work through getting the controller and this installed I will report back on function. If this works and that thin silver conductor is not a manufacturing flaw this is a decent panel at the price point.
The panel solars, but wires leave a little to be desired This little solar panel does the solar thing and brings in a little trickle of current to keep my trailer batteries topped off. But the wires are a very small gauge. I had to take off several inches of sleaving since they only give you a out an inch for each side of the wire in order to install MC4 connectors. You might not be able to tell from the picture, but the wires don’t “fill in” the gaps in the back of the MC4 connectors so I don’t know how water tight they are. Good little panel though, the VOC matched my 100 W panel do stringing them together in series or parallel wasn’t a problem (mine are in series).
Portable generator I plan on using this in a portable solar generator. Seems decent enough. I’ll buy more if it works well. It is small but it’s a decent wattage for the size. Should do a good job for camping.
Perfect for powering 12V greenhouse fan! I attached the solar panel to a 12V fan to circulate air inside our greenhouse and it works like a charm. I used a 12V cigarette socket adapter cable with alligator clips to connect the fan to the solar panel (no soldiering). The greenhouse tends to get hot when it’s sunny, so the solar panel automatically powers the fan as the sun heats up the greenhouse. I love that it picks up enough sunlight through the greenhouse panels so I didn’t have to mount it outside the greenhouse. This makes it convenient to move around and since its out of the wind, I can rest it in any orientation.I recommend the Nicesolar 20W Mono Solar Panel .
Sturdy little solar panel I am using this panel with an inexpensive PWM charge controller to make a trickle charger for 12v batteries. It keeps seldom used batteries fully charged and ready to go.The panel has a sturdy aluminum frame with mounting holes and a 3â pigtail cable. The wire size is small, about 20 AWG stranded. You can connect this directly to a controller that accepts bare wire inputs, or add the connector of your choice. The panel is waterproof, but the connection box on the back of the panel is not. It will need to be shielded from rain or splashing water. This is a good panel to use with small solar projects.
