Produces power even in low light, but mounting it is a pain I compared this to some other panels in the size range and it appears to produce power better than most in full sunlight. As sunlight fades, or if you cover some cells, voltage does drop, but not so badly as some. So, I feel the panel is pretty good. The mounting bracket, not so much.First off, the mounting bracket arms (4 of them) are very bendy and mine got warped and bent pretty quickly during installation. Once installed, the setup seems stable, but I was not impressed by the weakness of the brackets. What is worse, if you follow the instructions, you are in for a huge fight. Why? Because it is next to impossible to get a screwdriver in to the head of the screw while trying to screw down the wall or floor side of the bracket. I gave up on this, removed the back brackets, leaving two of the arms attached to the panel, measured carefully, drilled my pilot holes, mounted the wall-side brackets to my fence and only then, attached the brackets attached to the solar panel. This worked well. So, points for the panel itself and its performance, one star off for poor instructions that somebody didn’t actually try to follow at the factory first (next to impossible). If they can update their instructions as above, then I’d give it 5 stars.
Solidly built solar trickle charger I ordered this solar battery trickle charger to keep a charge on my RV trailer battery over the winter. I have not yet installed it, but it looks like it should do the trick. The panel arrived in a fairly durable cardboard box- looks like it would crack the panel if the UPS driver was very rough with it, but mine showed up in good condition. The panel seems to be very solidly built, and comes complete with a set of brackets and hardware for mounting. The unit has detachable leads, and comes with a set of clamps as well as a different set of leads that have ring terminals, should you want to hard wire the unit to your battery. It also comes complete with a pretty comprehensive user manual.I have not yet installed it, so I can’t speak to longevity, but with exposure to sunlight, the lights on the charge controller light up, and it produces voltage, so it should work out very well.Overall, I’m very happy with the charger, and the price seems pretty reasonable, as well.
